Richten Energy Co., Ltd. took part as a supporting organiser in the Remember I Love You Dementia Awareness Concert at the Kaohsiung Municipal Social Education Hall on 6 September, joining a community service initiative led by Zone 6 of Lions Clubs International District 300E-3.

The initiative supported the Taiwan Holistic Care Service Association, bringing together corporate social responsibility and the practical care needs of the local community.

Richten Energy CEO Hsueh Wei-li, who also serves as Chair of Zone 6, joined Region 13 Chair Hsu Shih-yi, Region 14 Chair Tung Chin-liang and eight Lions Clubs in supporting the initiative. Join It Sustainable Tech. Co., Ltd. and the Kaohsiung Good People and Good Deeds Association also took part, bringing businesses, civic organisations and care providers together in a cross-sector partnership.

Traditional performance brings dementia awareness to a wider audience

Bringing dementia awareness into the community

As a supporting organiser, Richten Energy worked alongside the community service network of Lions Clubs International Zone 6 to encourage greater understanding of people living with dementia and their families, linking corporate social responsibility with local needs.

Through Taiwanese opera, music and dance, the concert brought dementia awareness closer to the public. For Richten Energy, the initiative was about more than supporting a single event. It was also an opportunity to strengthen community connections and deepen understanding of the needs of people living with dementia and the families who care for them.

“Generating green electricity from buildings is our expertise; bringing the strength of business to places where support is needed is our responsibility,” Hsueh said.

He said corporate sustainability should not only address environmental challenges, but also recognise the circumstances people face in their everyday lives. Working with frontline care organisations, he added, can help businesses identify meaningful and appropriate ways to contribute.

In its core business, Richten Energy develops coloured solar technology and applications for building façades, addressing renewable energy generation alongside architectural appearance and long-term operation and maintenance requirements. This year, the company also exhibited at the Ministry of the Interior’s Net-Zero Vision Pavilion, where it joined industry partners in presenting innovative solutions for the net-zero transition.

Richten Energy has previously put its community engagement into practice through collaboration with Lions Clubs and Join It Sustainable Tech. Co., Ltd. At the Zuoying Wenwu Sheng Temple, the partners developed a coloured solar energy display combining local culture, public participation and environmental education.

Its involvement in dementia awareness marks a further step beyond energy applications, extending the company’s sustainability efforts into the area of social inclusion.

During the donation ceremony, Hsueh invited regional chairs, club presidents and fellow Lions members to join him on stage, giving the participating partners an opportunity to share the outcomes of their joint service efforts.

“Businesses can provide resources, civic organisations can mobilise participation, and care organisations understand what families actually need,” Hsueh said. “By respecting each other’s expertise, we can ensure that our support is better aligned with the people we are trying to serve.”

Looking ahead, Hsueh said charitable partnerships should begin by identifying genuine needs, while maintaining records of contributions, responsibilities and feedback to support continuous improvement.

Events can help bring people together around a cause, he said, but determining whether support is truly reaching those who need it requires listening to both service users and partner organisations.
