How do solar panels work?

Richten Energy 16

Solar panels, also known as PV panels, convert sunlight into electricity through the photovoltaic effect. When sunlight hits the panel, photons energize electrons within the silicon material, generating an electric current.

The electricity produced is direct current (DC), which is then converted into alternating current (AC) by an inverter for use in homes and businesses.
